The article appears in Cryptogamie, Mycologie 37 (1): 15-36, 2016. The microbiology research included studying a set of historical specimens collected by American mycologist Charles Leonard Smith in southeastern Nicaragua in 1896 and currently deposited at the Herbarium of the Charles University in Prague (PRC). The samples were examined for the presence of microfungi and despite the age of the specimens, 22 taxa were identified, 17 of them to species level and other five to generic level. All were recorded for the first time from Nicaragua. Cryptophiale cf. kakombensis and Sporoschisma juvenile were found associated with their putative teleomorphic states. Delgado has worked at EMLab P&K for more than a decade where he performs microbiological analysis to identify fungi, molds and other biological particles.
